Gold & Silver Crosses
Gold and SIlver crosses can be difficult at times, but following this chart can help you keep control of future offsprings colour.
Breeding a gold male over a silver female will give you a different result than breeding a silver male over a gold female.
Females can only carry one copy of gold (s+) or silver (S) therefore they can only pass that copy of the gene onto their male offspring.
1) Gold male over Silver female (Sex-linked cross).
Breeding a gold male (s+/s+) to a silver female (S/-) will result in gold females (s+/-) and GOLDEN males (s+/S) (they carry one copy of gold and one copy of silver). These boys however will appear silver at hatch, so you can easily tell boys from girls.

2) breeding Silver male over Gold female.
Result of this breeding is silver female (S/-) and GOLDEN males (S/s+). However, these males appear silver at hatch just like the females, so you wont be able to separate by gender until they've grown up and other distinguishing features can be seen.
